The origin of rose absolute

Lavender is a plant that is intensively cultivated in the Republic of Bulgaria. In years past, Bulgaria was a leading producer of lavender flowers on a global scale. Lavender absolute is obtained from lavender concrete through multiple extractions with ethyl alcohol under specific thermal conditions.

Technological process:

The processing of fresh lavender flowers into extract with a non-polar solvent - concrete - is initiated after the lavender flowers are cut. They are then fed into a continuously operating extraction system, which moves the non-polar solvent in opposite directions to extract the target product from the fresh lavender flowers.

The obtained mixture of solvent and concrete is filtered twice and subjected to solvent extraction. The obtained concrete is placed in a reactor and flooded with pure ethyl alcohol. They are stirred until complete homogeneity is achieved and undergo a long cooling process. The cooled liquid is filtered twice and purified from the solvent. The resulting product is packaged in aluminum containers in various sizes suitable for food contact.

Certification and standardisation:

  • Produced according to ISO 9001:2015 and GMP of cosmetic regulations.
